Foodie Event of the Summer - Green City Market's BBQ July 21

The be-all, end-all of summer food events is July 21 when the Green City Market Chef's Barbecue returns for its 11th year.

Executive Chef Marc Bernard and staff will be serving Coconut and Lime Glazed Organic Pork Belly from Becker Lane Farm in Iowa on bibb lettuce from Heritage Prairie Farm where Big Bowl has two acres growing produce for its Chicago area restaurants. Chiles from Green Acres Farm will give the dish a little pop of heat when Bernard uses them to make a vinaigrette.

The barbecue begins at 5:30 p.m. on the south end of Lincoln Park (1790 N. Clark Street, Chicago) and closes at 8 p.m. The event sells out in advance but tickets (starting at $100 per person and $25 for children 12 and under) are still available and can be purchased by clicking here.

A map of the more than 100 restaurants at the barbecue will be distributed at the event. We'll post Big Bowl's location as soon as we know here, on Facebook and Twitter.
