Labor of Love in Brentwood

It goes without saying restaurants are a labor of love. This week our labors have been located in Dierbergs Brentwood Pt in St. Louis, MO. We’ve been working long hours and adding our finishing touches to ensure a successful Big Bowl Chinese Express opening on Monday. It’s an exciting process, and we’re very lucky to have a really good-looking space, and a stellar team!

The days are long and being onsite makes it hard to be away from my family and two dogs; I even miss my garden and can’t help but wonder, “are they remembering to water it?” However, I’m rest-assured knowing that this Big Bowl Chinese Express will be another great edition to our Lettuce family.

In the meantime, the team and I are finding ways to feel at home. We’ve been exploring the community and trying local restaurants (lots of work guarantees a big appetite)!  I highly recommend Pappy’s Smokehouse, and The Good Pie--they serve some seriously good pizza pie. Pappy’s is so busy they had to add a smoker in the parking lot, and they’re open until they sell out, cooked and served the same day! Lucky for us, you can call ahead and see what’s left, but don’t wait too long they close at 8pm! The people at The Good Pie are food fanatics. They have imported flour and tomatoes from Italy, and serve local coffee and house made gelato which only heightens the feel-at-home atmosphere. The Good Pie pizza is made with buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil. Molto buona!
