Make-Your-Own Dumplings for Chinese New Year
Mix, dab and pinch - it's that simple to make the kind of delicious dumplings served at Big Bowl and now, your home, just in time for Chinese New Year.
As a part of our Year of the Dragon celebration, a dumpling making class will be offered on Saturday, January 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. It's an ideal time to either learn or hone the skill because dumplings represent wealth and prosperity - and who couldn't use more of that?
The class is complimentary. After the demonstration, you'll have a chance to taste the hand made dumplings. The dumplings featured as specials, such as the ones on the Chinese New Year menu (shrimp and chive stuffed, with a fiery sauce), are hand made fresh at each Big Bowl.
One of the Big Bowl chefs will show the ease of how ground chicken, pork or shrimp can be mixed with a handful of ingredients, such as egg and soy, then spooned onto a wonton wrapper. Dab the edges with egg wash and pinch to close. That's how quick and easy it is to have dumplings ready for steaming or pan searing.
The dumpling demo will be offered at the following locations. All participants receive a complimentary bag of dumplings. Spots fill up fast so make a reservation by calling the restaurant directly.

Hello!! When does Big Bowl plan to have the next dumpling class in Chicago?
Just want to thank you again for keeping the garlic tofu from Ben Pao from vanishing... and for featuring it at Big Bowl. We were at the Schaumburg location on Sunday and it was SO DELICIOUS we had a hard time keeping the conversation going because we kept interrupting each other to exclaim about the food. I'm serious! The tofu, in particular, is exquisite. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We ended up ordering a second order! It would have been a shame to lose that great taste... and now, Big Bowl is absolutely our favorite restaurant. Thanks!
